Why Should I Consider an Assessment + Report?

You may be interested in receiving a personalised and comprehensive assessment that outlines your difficulties and provides a tailored therapeutic plan. For instance, if you're seeking healthcare services, an assessment can help ensure that any support you receive aligns with your specific needs, such as the appropriate therapeutic approach and duration of therapy. This can be empowering, as navigating mental health services can be challenging.

The assessment is also suitable for individuals who aren't currently seeking therapy, but feel they need guidance, advice, and tools to manage their difficulties independently. The assessment can help determine a diagnosis, if desired, or provide a second opinion or validation for existing concerns.

What to Expect?

During the assessment, I will ask you a range of questions about why you're seeking an assessment and your experiences. We'll discuss the assessment process to ensure it's the right fit for you, and you'll have the opportunity to ask questions. You're welcome to bring a friend, family member, or partner to the appointment (please let me know in advance).

Prior to our meeting, I may send you validated questionnaires to gain a better understanding of your difficulties. We'll then meet for approximately 90 minutes, where I will ask about your background, challenges, strengths, and any other relevant information.

What is it like?

An assessment session can be a validating experience, where your difficulties and strengths are discussed, and I provide you with a formulation that we create collaboratively and make sense of together. I also offer advice on therapeutic approaches, lifestyle changes, self-help materials, and refer you to relevant services, community initiatives, or charities.

At the end of the assessment, I will provide feedback, discussing potential diagnoses like maladaptive daydreaming, ADHD or Autism, and guide you towards obtaining a formal diagnosis and support.

Please note that I cannot provide an official ADHD or Autism diagnosis, as this requires adherence to UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines, which outline specific assessment criteria and a team-based approach.
